Reading Intervention/Dyslexia

Welcome to intervention at SH Primary!  I am excited to work with you and your child. I have been teaching at Spring Hill for many years.   I enjoyed teaching in the primary classroom for over 20 years, but now my primary focus is in reading intervention and dyslexia.

Reading Intervention
Reading intervention is small group instruction focused helping students improve in the mechanics of decoding words, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension.  Students in reading intervention receive additional help through Leveled Literacy Instruction "LLI".  This is a researched based, prescriptive program that focuses on grade level skills.  Our intervention classes are offered 4 days a week for 30 min.

Dyslexia
Dyslexia students are taught through a in a multi-sensory, systematic approach called Reading By Design .  This reading program is a researched based learning approach that is taught through three different pathways (auditory, visual and kinesthetic) and instructs students within a daily systematic phonic's curriculum. Parent information is available along with activities to help your child throughout the year.  I am thrilled to have the opportunity to explore this journey of helping students become better readers.
