Dear School Community,
As many of you may know, Texas House Bill 1481, signed into law by Governor Abbott, prohibits students from using personal communication devices (such as cell phones, smartwatches, and tablets) on school property during the school day. This law mandates that school districts adopt policies to enforce this ban. Texas House Bill 1481 goes into effect for the 2025-2026 school year.
Spring Hill ISD will update campus policies to comply with this new law when the Texas Education Agency releases the implementation requirements for House Bill 1481.
We wanted to communicate with you now so families will be prepared for this change when school starts. We will provide additional information on the new cell phone (communication devices) law as it becomes available.
