Our enrollment process starts online. It can be found on the shisd.net web page by on the “Parent” tab and then clicking on “Enroll a NEW student” on the drop down menu. Below is info you will need for registration.

 

General Registration Document Needed for New Kindergarten through 2nd Grade:

1.     New Students: Certified birth certificate (not hospital birth certificate)

2.     New Students: Social Security Card

3.     New Students: Copy of parent/guardian’s driver’s license

4.     New Students: Immunization Records

5.      Every Student and EVERY YEAR: Proof of residence in the school district (i.e. current utility bill…water, gas, electric bill, telephone landline bill, or Gregg County Tax Statement)

 

Pre-K Qualifications

In order to attend Pre-K, students must be four (4) years of age by September 1, and meets one ofthe following criteria.

·       Unable to speak and comprehend the English language.

·       Meet financial eligibility requirements based on the Federal Lunch program guidelines

·       Child of active duty member of US armed forces or reserves ordered to active duty

·       The child of a member of the armed forces who was injured or killed while on active duty

·       Homeless

·       In foster care or was ever in foster care in Texas

A copy of the following should be brought at the time of registration:

1.     Certified birth certificate (not hospital birth certificate)

2.     Social Security Card

3.     Proof of residence inthe school district (i.e. current utility bill…water, gas, electric bill,telephone landline bill, or Gregg County Tax Statement)

4.     Copy of parent/guardian’s driver’s license

5.     One month’s check stub from every adult living in the household that has a job, if qualifying based on income

6.     If you receive food stamps or TANF, the case number must be provided on the Federal Lunch Application. This form is provided through the office and must be completed by the same adult providing his/her social security card

7.     Immunization records

Documentation of Eligibility (At Least one of the Following)

1.     English proficiency:Home language survey and test results

2.     Educationally Disadvantaged: Evidence student eligible for NSLP:

·       Automatically eligible(Head Start, migrant, TANF) or

·       Eligible based on family income

3.      Homeless: Documentation that local homeless education liaison finds student meets federal definition of homeless

4.      Parent military service

·        Military ID

·       Statement of service

·        Department of Defense death certificate

·        Purple Heart orders or citation

·       Documentation that service member is missing in action

·       Copy of US Department of Veterans Affairs letter stating service member eligible for disability compensation

 

5.      Foster care

·       Texas DFPS verification letter  

·       Form 2085E
